Giffoni Film Festival

The Giffoni Film Festival is organised by the independent Association: “Ente Autonomo Festival Internazionale del Cinema per Ragazzi e per la Gioventù”, a non-profit Association that was constituted in 1973. It is supported by the Campania Regional Government, POR Campania, the Italian Ministry for Arts and Culture, the Salerno Provincial Administration and the Municipality of Giffoni Valle Piana. Other associations, organisations, institutions and private sponsors also support the Festival.

The 44th edition of the Giffoni Film Festival will take place under the Patronage of the Italian Head of State.

OBJECTIVES
For over 44 years the Festival has acted as a sounding board for cinema production destined for children and young people. It represents the ideal place for vivacious confrontation between filmmakers, producers and distributors and also provides a bridge between the sector’s production universe and its target audience. The Festival also aims to promote the knowledge and circulation of products of high artistic value, capable of contributing to the formation and cultural growth of a mature critical conscience in young people.

1. OFFICIAL SECTIONS

1.1 Elements +3 – competitive section for short animation movies for children from 3 to 5 years of age.

1.2 Elements +6 – competitive section for feature length films and short films (fiction and animation) for audiences from 6 to 9 years of age.

1.3 Elements +10 – competitive section for feature length films and short films (fiction and animation) for audiences from 10 to 12 years of age.

1.4 Generator +13 – competitive section for feature length films (fiction and animation) for audiences from 13 to 15 years of age.

1.5 Generator +16 – competitive section for feature length films (fiction and animation) for audiences from 16 to 18 years of age.

1.6 Generator +18 – competitive section for feature films and short films (fiction and animation) for audiences from 18 years on.

1.7 GEX Doc – competitive section for documentaries about infanthood and coming of age.

1.8 Previews – Feature films out of competition for youth and families.

1.9 Short is Different – Short films out of competition revolving around the theme of the Festival.

1.10 Parental Control – non competitive sections for feature length films released in the Italian territory during the 2013/14 season.

Short films must not run for more than 30' while feature length films must  run for at least 60'.

Preferred formats are as follows: DCP, DigiBeta, HDCAM (not SR), Blu-ray.
DVD and file H264HD or Apple Pro-res format only for short films.


2. THE JURIES AND AWARDS

2.1 For the Elements competitive sections the National Jury is to be composed of children (600 circa per section) who will award the Gryphon to the best feature film and to the best short film;

2.2 For the Generator +13 and +16 competitive sections the International Jury is to be composed of teenagers from all over the world (500 circa per section) who will award the Gryphon to the best feature film and the “Jury Grand Prix”;

2.3 For the Generator +18 section the Jury is to be composed of teachers, university students and cinephiles who will award the Gryphon to the best feature film, to the best fiction and animated short film.

The Juries’ decisions are unquestionable.

3. REGISTRATION PROCEDURE

3.1 Terms and conditions for the admission to the selection. Only films produced after October 2012 will be considered for selection and priority will be given to previously unedited films. ONLY FOR FEATURE LENGTH FILMS: the film presentation at any other italian film festival or its theatrical or broadcasting on television in italy will exclude it from participating in the giffoni film festival.
The deadline of DVDs, files or links submission to be included in the pre-selection is the 6th of June 2014.
All DVDs, accompanied by a completed copy of our entry form (only if NOT already submitted online), should be sent to the following address:

Materials for inclusion in the pre-selection must be sent at the expense of the participants. The DVDs will be returned only if a specific request is made by the sender. Our Association will keep a copy of each film, which will then be kept in our Cine Library and used exclusively for cultural and educational reasons.

3.2 Selection terms. The selection will take place under the unquestionable judgment of the Festival’s Artistic Management who will communicate the results exclusively to the production and distribution companies of the films selected, no later than the 18th of June 2014.

3.3 Materials. On receiving official notification of the film’s inclusion in competition, absolute priority must be given to the dispatch of the following materials:
 DVD of the entire film (if not already submitted for the pre-selection)
 Biography, filmography and photograph of the Director (by e-mail)
 Director’s notes on the film and production notes (by e-mail)
 Complete list of dialogues in English and/or a list of subtitles (by e-mail)
 Slides or photographs from the film (by e-mail or ftp)
 Brochures
 Posters and flyers
 Trailer (only for feature films) in video format no longer than 2 minutes (also by ftp)

DVDs, brochures, posters and flyers should be sent exclusively via courier, separately from the print, to the following address:

Note: In order to promote the film in competition, it is essential that the production company give their authorisation for a maximum of 2’ (max. 30” for short films) of scenes taken from the film to be broadcast on National and International television.

IMPORTANT

3.4 Shipments.Any copies (both feature films and short films) for the official screening must be sent exclusively via courier service to the same address (see above) and the prints must arrive in the Festival’s office no later than the 11th July 2014.
 All shipments from NON-EU MEMBER STATES must be accompanied by a pro-forma invoice indicating for customs purposes only, a value of no more than $10USD for feature films and $5USD for short films and indicate clearly in writing the following “NO COMMERCIAL VALUE, FOR CULTURAL PURPOSES ONLY”. At the same time the sender must ensure that an e-mail containing the title of the film, the number of packages, the date and coordinates of the shipment (AWB number) is received in the Office of the Festival’s Artistic Secretary.
 All the films in competition will be screened in original language with the addition of electronic subtitles (with the exception of the Elements +3 and Elements +6 sections, for which a voice-over system will be adopted).
 The prints must be subtitled in English if they come from non-Anglophone countries.
 The official copy must be identical to the DVD copy submitted for pre-selection.
 In the case of DCPs please consider the time needed to carry out tests and upload it. The copy must arrive within July 11. In the case of encrypted DCPs, a valid KDM must be sent for the following time frame: July 14 – July 27 2014.


4. COSTS AND COMMITMENTS
 The GFF foresees no cost for admission to the pre-selection.
 Shipment costs for films in pre-selection are to be covered by the participants.
 All shipment expenses for the films selected for competition, as well as those incurred for their return to their country of origin, will be covered by the GFF. In case the copy of the films is shipped from/to another Festival, we shall cover the cost of only one track.
 Travel Insurance. The expedition of the prints to and from Giffoni is to be covered by participants. The Festival takes care of insurance for the period of the goods’ stay in Giffoni. The insurance value will not be higher than the cost of re-printing a copy according to the going rate in Italy.
 Producers and distributors of the winning films are kindly asked to hand a copy of the title either on 35mm or Digital format to the Festival, in order to keep it at the Festival Archive. The copy will not be used for any commercial purposes.

5. DELEGATIONS PARTICIPATION

5.1 TRAVELLING EXPENSES. The Giffoni Film Festival will cover the cost of economy class flight tickets exclusively for the Directors of the feature films in competition.

5.2 HOSPITALITY EXPENSES:

Hospitality (B/B and dinners) is foreseen for the Directors and for a representative of the production/distribution company of each feature film in all the competitive sections (the hospitality goes from the day before the screening to the day after the Award Ceremony).
Hospitality (B/B and dinners) for a maximum of 3 nights is foreseen for the Directors of the short films in all the competitive sections.

N.B. The Production and Distribution Companies of the films selected are invited to support the participation of their films at the GFF by sustaining the attendance of the leading actors from their films to whom we will be happy to offer accommodation to (B/B and dinners).

6. FINAL MEASURES
 Entrance into one of the GFF’s competitive sections entails unconditional acceptance of the Festival’s regulations. It is strictly the producers, distributors or any other subjects’ responsibility to guarantee that they are authorized to submit the films at GFF.
 This list of regulations has been drawn up in both the Italian and English languages. If problems of interpretation should arise the version in Italian will prevail.
 The management of the GFF is allowed to take decisions that are not foreseen in the above regulations and to change the regulations in special cases.
 The Court of Salerno is regarded as the competent authority for all eventual controversy.

Aesthetica Short Film Festival

We are looking for filmmakers who are driving the genre of short film forward through inspirational and innovative works. Whether you are fresh out of film school or have been making films for years, we want to hear from you. The deadline for submission is 31 May 2014.

Alpinale Kurzfilm Festival

International/Academic
The ALPINALE represents a venue for both professional and amateur filmmakers from home and abroad, who are given the opportunity to conduct multi-cultural and open dialogue with creative people, and to present their work to an interested audience.

1.) International Competition categories

The duration of the film must not exceed 30 minutes including credits. Only original versions of films no older than 2 years may be sent in.

Invited are films in the following categories:

a) INTERNATIONAL: Short-films of all kinds (fiction or animation), produced under professional conditions.

b) ACADEMY: Productions by students and graduates of colleges of film and media arts, film academies and other similar institutions.

a) fiction films
b) animation

2.) Application
The submission is to be sent in no later than the 15th of March 2014 via our online form only. The application consists of two steps.

Step 1: Online Form
The online form must be filled out correctly by March 15, 2014 the latest. The following doucments are necessary to do so:
- List of dialogue
- Film stills (print quality)
- Synopsis in english (and German if available)

Step 2: Send us your film
After you filled out the online form you will receive a confirmation e-mail at the given e-mail adress. In order to successfully finish your submission you must send in your short film on a data-DVD via mail to the festival. The deadline for the submission is March 15, 2014 as well (date stamp). Submissions that are sent in any later will automatically be considered as submissions for the next festival edition

3.) Accepted film formats
The submitted video file will be used for the festival projection and must fulfill the following requirements:
File Format: MP4 or MOV
Video Codec: h.264.
Audio Codec: compressed, AAC or AC3 preferred
Framerate: 25fps
Aspect racio: 16:9 (1.77:1) preferred; 4:3 (1.33:1) is possible, attention: Do not use Letterbox!
Filesize: max. 2GB

If the language of the film is neither in German nor English, subtitles in one of those languages are necessary.

The material sent in to the festival will remain with the festival. No material can be sent back to the sender. The cost of postage has to be met by the participant. All deliveries outside the European Union must be marked with the phrase “no commercial value – for cultural purpose only” with a print value of less than EUR 25,00 in total.

The organizer does not take over liability for the films, its adequate handling is assured though. Applicants carry the exclusive responsibility for possible violations of copyrights. Incorrect information will disqualify the participant.

4.) Nomination
In order to participate in the competition, a selection commitee (festival comittee) decides on the acceptance of the film. Its decisions are indisputable. If the selection commitee does not accept a film for the competition, there is the possibility for the commitee to show the film in one of the extra screenings. The festival comittee doesn’t give any reasons for nominations or rejections.

5.) Jury and prizes
The evalution is made by an international jury. Its decisions are indisputable. The jury presents:

The audience decides on a »Golden Unicorn« as the audience award.

In The Palace (international short film festival)

1. The 12th edition of the In The Palace International Short Film Festival will be held between June 28 and July 04, 2014.

 

2. Eligible for entry are films with duration of up to 27 minutes, completed after January 1, 2012.

 

3. The Festival accepts individual submissions, as well as institutional entries (i.e. submissions form production companies, distribution companies, film academies, national film centres, television networks, creative associations etc.)

 

4. Entry fees and deadlines for registration and submission:

till November 1, 2013 - Free entry

till February 1, 2014 - Earlybird Deadline: Standard Fee 20.00 EUR

till March 1, 2014 - Regular Deadline: Standard Fee 30.00 EUR

5. In The Palace ISFF will pay a screening fee of 40 Euro for each film selected to compete in the International Competition – this fee is payable in the Festival currency 'Kitra'.

6. The total prize money to be distributed at the 12th In The Palace ISFF is 10,000 Euro in gold.

2. NATIONAL COMPETITION

Experimental films, hybrid forms and formats, digital art works

Eligible for entry in the National Competition are films produced in or co-produced with Bulgaria.

 

8. In The Palace ISFF will appoint a Selection Committee, as well as a professional International Jury to assess the films shown at the Festival.

 

9. The authors of all selected films will be notified by April 20, 2014.

 

10. Accreditation applications should be sent no later than May 20, 2014.

 

11. The deadline for sending screening copies of the selected films is May 20, 2014.

 

12. The films must have English dialogue OR English subtitles.

 

13. Screening copies are preferred to be delivered in High Definition digital files.

 

14. The Festival reserves the right to screen the preview copies of the selected films.

 

15. In The Palace ISFF will cover the accommodation fees of one accredited representative per film.

 

16. In The Palace ISFF reserves the right to show films that have not been selected to compete in the Competition Programmes in special non-competitive programmes during the Festival.

 

17. The copyright owners of the film agree to permit the inclusion of their film(s) in all Festival and post-festival presentational programmes; gratuitous showing of screenshots, trailers and parts of the film (online or via other media) with the purpose of presenting the film’s participation in the Festival.

 

18. The preview copies of all films submitted to the Festival are automatically included in the Festival Video Library, where they are available for non-commercial professional viewing.

 

19. The Festival Director has the right to personally resolve any questions not included in these Regulations.

 

20. By applying for participation in the In The Palace ISFF you agree to all sections of the Festival Regulations.

Visegrád Animation Fórum calls for pitch

Visegrád Animation Fórum will be held on Anifilm 2014, and calls for a submission of ANIMATION SHORT FILM PROJECTS and a TV SERIE PROJECTS IN CONCEPT from our region.

Two categories pitching competition, short film projects and TV series, is held by Asociace animovaného filmu (Association of Czech Animation) within the industry section of its Visegrad Animation Forum (VAF) held at the International Festival of Animation Film „Anifilm“ in Třeboň (6th – 8th of May 2014).

Authors of the selected 8 short film projects and 6 Central European TV series will be able to present selected projects in two categories at Visegrád Animation Forum 2014 in form of public pitching forum in front of international producers, professionals, TV comission editors, potential co-producers and authors itself. Each participating project can be represented at most by one author and one producer.

Then the pitching jury of international professionals will award the Best project of a short film with the prize money of 2000 EUR for further development of the film. Pitching jury of international professionals will choose also the Best project of TV series.

– Visegrád Animation Forum accepts only short film projects or planned films that do not exceed their footage of 20 minutes.
– At least 50 percent of the short film must be done with an animation or multimedia technique with the emphasis on the graphical form of the final result.
– The project must have a producer and an author (filmmaker or designer) who could represent it at the pitching competition forum in front of professionals and potential partnets.
– There is no fee for submission of the project.
– The project must be accompamied by the info provided in the online internet formulaire:
– a logline
– a synopsis (250 words maximum)
– a treatment + director´s explication, realistic estimation of a budget (500 words maximum)
– examples of graphic and visual style
– short biography of a director (50 words maximum)
– info about the production company and contacts (50 words maximum)

Conditions of applications of tv serie submission

– Visegrád Animation Forum accepts only planned TV animation serie projects or pilot projects which episodes reach a standard length usual in television broadcasting.
– At least 50 percent of the TV animation serie must be done with an animation technique with the emphasis on the graphical form of the final result.
– The project must have a producer and an author (filmmaker or designer) who could represent it at the pitching competition forum in front of professionals and potential partnets.
– There is no fee for submission of the project.
– The project of a TV serie must be accompamied by the info provided in the online internet formulaire:
– a logline
– a description of the main story line and poetics (250 words maximum)

DETAILS ABOUT THE TRAINING AND A PITCHING

Pitching Participants will have the opportunity to participate in the entire three-day program of Visegrád Animation Forum, which will include a special preparatory workshops dedicated to writing of the screenplay, development and presentation of the project on the international scene led by international experts. VAF will also offer presentations of film studios and professionals from our region, co-production and debates and program focused on meeting our schools and talents. Final pitching will be held on the last day of three days VAF event and every of participating teams will have 10 minutes to present their project in front of the jury and the audience.

Visegrad Animation Forum will cover the accommodation to pitching partecipants at the festival hotel during the 3 days event.

Kutsun sind osalema ühes väga lahedas ühe-õhtu-näituseprojektis. Kui sa veel kuulnud ei ole, siis tea, et 22.novembril korraldame Genialistide klubis BYOB näitust, mille algatas Rafael Rosendaal 2010.aastal Berliinis. Pärast seda on BYOB üritusi korraldatud ülemaailma väga palju aga

1) Otsi oma virtuaalsest sahtlist välja lahedad visuaalid (võivad vabalt olla ka mõned sellised, mida on juba varem näitusel esitatud).

Eesti Kunstiakadeemia avatus uste päev 26. okt

26. oktoobril toimub Eesti Kunstiakadeemia 98. aastapäeva tähistamiseks Avatud EKA Päev, mis on tänavu mõeldud tulevastele sisseastujatele, koostööhuvilistele ja Eesti Kunstiakadeemia vilistlastele.

Avatud EKA Päeval on kõik Eesti Kunstiakadeemia teaduskondade hooned külastajatele avatud:

Avatud EKA Päev algab kell 9.00 hommikuste tavapäraste loengutega - on võimalus külastada enamikke tunniplaanis olevaid loenguid ja tunde.

Kella 10:00 algavad teaduskondade tutvustused disaini, arhitektuuri, kunstikultuuri ja vabade kunstide õppekavadest. Toimuvad erialatutvustused osakondades - klassides, stuudiotes ja ateljeedes on väljapanekud tudengite töödest, erialaprojektidest ja koostööst ettevõtjatega. On võimalus katsetada savitreimist, tutvuda töökodadega ja -vahenditega. Kahes hoones - Kiriku plats 1 ja Estonia pst 7/Teatri väljak 1 - on infopunktid, kust saab õppimisvõimalusi tutvustavaid infomaterjale ning sisseastumisega seonduvat teavet.

Kella 12:00--14:00 pakutakse kaasaegse kunsti suppi Kiriku plats 1 hoones.

Alates kella 14.00 on avatud EKA EXPO ning siis on oodatud vilistlased ning koostööpartnerid ja -huvilised. EKA EXPO juhatab sisse rektor prof Signe Kivi ning räägib Kunstiakadeemia tegemistest laiemalt.

EKA EXPO toimub Estonia pst 7/Teatri väljak 1 hoones ruumis 265; seal on võimalus tutvuda üliõpilaste ja ettevõtete koostöös sündinud disainiprojektidega nii sisearhitektuuri, mööblidisaini, nahakunsti, tootedisaini, graafilise disaini, moedisaini, tekstiilidisaini, metallikunsti, keraamika ja klaasidisaini vallas. Kell 15:00 on planeeritud kohtumine üliõpilastega, kus õpihuvilised saavad esitada küsimusi EKAs õppimise ja tudengielu kohta. Kohtumine leiab aset Estonia pst 7 hoones IV korruse liftiesises ruumis.

Kell 16:00 toimub Estonia pst 7/Teatri väljak 1 hoones, rm 245 koostööhuvilistele töötuba "Milleks disain ja kellele seda vaja on?", mille läbiviija ontootedisainer ja "Disainispikri" autor Merike
Rehepapp. Vajalik registreerimine.

Kella 17:00 algavad Kiriku plats 1 hoones töötoad, kella 18:00-st avatud loengud vilistlastelt ja õppejõududelt ning vestlusring EKA paiknemise teemal;esinema tulevad nimekad vilistlased ja hinnatud õppejõud, sh em. prof Jaak Kangilaski, vilistlased Tarrvi Laaman ja Reet Aus. Kella
20:00st on Kiriku plats 1 hoones avatud Nostalgia nurk, EKA vana hoone fotodest näitus-müük ja keldriruumides Jututuba. Päev lõppeb diskoga, mille korraldavad moedisaini vilistlane Anne Metsis koos abilistega.

FrostFX meistriklass - tõetruude vedelike loomine ehk Creating Lifelike Liquids In CGI

Sellel aastal toimub Disainiöö nädala raames FrostFX ainulaadne meistriklass/loenguõhtu tõetruude vedelike loomise teemal. Antud meistriklass toimus esmakordselt sel kevadel FMX konverents-festivalil Stuttgardis Eesti anima ja efektitootjate erifookuse raames, programmi kureeris Heilika Pikkov.

Kuidas luuakse plahvatavad puuviljad, hõrgult vohavad mahlad või kutsuvalt kihisev õlu?

Palamuse filmipäevad

Alates 1996.aastast on Palamusel tähistatud Theodor Lutsu sünniaastapäeva. Selle tähistamisest kasvasidki välja filmipäevad. Filmipäevade raames toimub ka lahtine lühifilmide konkurss.

On alanud registreerimine konkursile. Konkursifilmid on liigitatud eri žanrideks:
animafilm (arvutianimatsioon, nuku-või joonisfilm)
eksperimentaalfilm (pikkus kuni 15 minutit)
tõsielufilm e. dokumentaalfilm (pikkus kuni 30 minutit)

Uus animatsoonifestival Tartus 1.-3. oktoobril

KLIK!ESTONIA//KLÕPS on animatsioonifestival, mille eesmärgiks on tuua Tartusse kümnete kaupa kõige paremaid animatsioone Amsterdamis paralleelselt toimuvalt festivalil KLIK!Amsterdam ning täiendada neid Eesti pärlitega.

Animatsiooniprogrammid koosnevad hulgast väikestest ägedatest teostest. Pikema narratiivi austajatele pakuvad naudingut kaks täispikka animatsiooni.

Animatsioonidele lisanduvad Amsterdami partnerite workshopid ning laupäevaõhtune Anime/Anima Öö pidu, mis kompab kahe erineva animatsioonistiiliühiseid piirjooni.

Unesco Multifilmi piltstsenaariumi konkurss

UNESCO maailmapärandi keskus kuulutab välja multifilmi piltsstsenaariumi konkursi.

Multifilmi peategelane peab olema rahvusvahelise maailmapärandi haridusprogrammi maskott Patrimonito. Tema tegelaskuju kujutab noort kultuuripärandi kaitsjat ja maskoti nimi tähendab hispaania keeles ’väike pärand'. Rohkem infot: http://whc.unesco.org/en/patrimonito

TINGIMUSED

Osa võtma on oodatud 12-18-aastased noored, kes väljendaksid oma maailmapärandiga seotud ideid. Valida on nelja teema vahel:

2. Maailmapärand ja säästlik turism (vastutustundlik külastamine)
3. Maailmapärand ja säästlik areng (kuidas rahuldada inimeste tänaseid vajadusi nii, et kultuuripärand säiliks ka tulevastele põlvedele)
4. Maailmapärand ja bioloogiline mitmekesisus (maailmapärandi nimekirja kantud looduspärand, mis aitab alles hoida looma- ja liigirikkust)
