20. - 23. jaanuarini toimus Meremäel järjekordne stsenaristika laager.

 Tegemist on juba traditsioonilise (rahvusvahelise) üritusega, mille mõte on korraks filmitegijad talve-kaamosest välja tuua ning paariks päevaks laagri vormis ühte ruumi kinni panna. Stsenaristika laagris ei ole traditsioonilisi töötubasid ega juhendajaid, vaid töö korraldatakse vastavalt osalejate projektidele. Nagu kogemus näitab, on selline formaat ideaalne, et oma kokkujooksnud mõte uuesti lahti harutada, sõlmekohad üles leida ning ideedele uut hoogu anda.

 Aastate jooksul on laagrist läbi käinud mitmed ideed, millest mitu on vormunud ka filmideks.

Stsenaristikalaagrit korraldavad MTÜ Nisi Masa Estonia ja Kinoonud. Laagrit rahastas Eesti Kultuurkapital.

European Short Pitch is looking for a Project Coordinator for its 2017 edition

NISI MASA – European Network of Young Cinema is currently looking for an intern to take on the role of Project Coordinator for the 11th edition of European Short Pitch. European Short Pitch is an initiative aimed at promoting the European coproduction of short films. It combines a scriptwriting workshop in January and a coproduction forum bringing together scriptwriters, directors and industry professionals from all over Europe in March.

The Project Coordinator is an integral member of the project team responsible for the management of European Short Pitch. The Project Coordinator is responsible for organizing and controlling the project activities, under the guidance and direction of the Head of the Script Department and the coproduction forum Manager.

Requirements:

– Eligible to Erasmus, Leonardo scheme (or equivalent) or CUI-CAE (French system).

Scope of Responsibilities:

– Coordinating and administrating a diverse range of events and projects in collaboration with groups and individuals from creative, cultural and funding organizations.

– Setting up and supporting script-related events including room booking, speaker liaison, organizing catering, managing booking systems, documentation and promotion.

– Supporting and liaising with invited professionals and project participants.

– Project scheduling.

– Documenting and disseminating script related projectsin a timely fashion.

– Administrative and accountancy follow-up.

Skills & Experience:

– Flexible and adaptable.

– Highly organized.

– Accurate, punctual and excellent time management skills.

– Ability to take initiative.

– Fluent in English, both spoken and written. Fluent in French a plus.

– ICT literate and able to develop new skills quickly.

– Good communication and networking skills – ability to effectively communicate in person, in writing and by telephone.

– Interested in cinema and culture in general.

European Short Pitch 2016 – Call for Works-in-Progress

As European Short Pitch always aims to be at the forefront of the ever-changing needs of the short film industry, from this year onwards, we’ll be adding a new segment to the coproduction forum, pitches of works-in-progress, this in collaboration with C3PM organized by Paris Courts Devant and Espera Productions, to supply the selected filmmakers with a platform to find a co-producer and to promote their short films to be completed on a European level.

Selected on the basis of the quality and the potential of their short film projects, 5 European talents will pitch and showcase their projects in front of a panel of 55 producers, financers, buyers, and distributors.

European Short Pitch aims to bring young European talents into the spotlight, give them a high-end promotion opportunity, and develop short film coproduction in Europe. This initiative is about enhanced economic viability and European visibility for short film projects.

Coproduction Forum and Pitches of Works-in-Progress

The coproduction forum will take place from the 2nd till the 6th of March 2016 in Luxembourg as part of the Luxembourg City Film Festival in partnership with LARS. Participants will have one day to prepare and rehearse their pitches with the tutors present. The pitching, in the presence of the invited professionals, will take place on the 4th of March in the afternoon where each project will have a chance to screen the work-in-progress and to pitch the film and its specific needs.

Each project will have 7 minutes (excl. screening of work-in-progress) – questions included.

One-to-one meetings (25 minutes long) with professionals will take place the morning after. On the evening of the 4th an award ceremony will take place with two in kind post-production awards offered by Espera Productions, one for 3500€ and one for 7500€, which will be handed out by a jury headed by the representatives of the Luxembourgish post-production house, Espera Productions.

Who can apply?
European Short Pitch is open to creative teams developing international short film projects. It is therefore open to directors and producers.
Directors developing a project on their own are very welcome to participate in the programme. Yet it is strongly advised to already have nationally a production company interested or attached to the project.
The director/producer has to be between 18 and 35 years of age on the closing date of the call (6th of January 2016).
His/her nationality or country of residence should be one of the member countries of the Creative Europe Programme (European Union + Albania, Bosnia Herzegovina, Iceland, Georgia, Moldova, Montenegro, Norway and Turkey). European Short Pitch will also select up to 3 projects from non-member countries of the Creative Europe Programme where NISI MASA has a member organisation: Kosovo, Macedonia, Russia, Serbia and Ukraine.
The working language of European Short Pitch is English; thus, a good knowledge of English is essential in order to participate.

Participation fees
The participation fee for each project is 250 Euros. The fee covers the travel costs, the accommodation and subsistence for the coproduction forum. One person per project is covered by European Short Pitch. However, upon prior agreement, an extra person per project shall be admitted – he/she will have to cover his/her own travel, accommodation and subsistence costs.

How to apply?
Before the application deadline (6th of January 2016, midnight C.E.T.), applicants have to send the following to aleksandra@nisimasa.com.

•The Work-in-Progress (live action, animation or documentary are accepted) inferior to 20 minutes with English subtitles delivered as an .mpeg4 or .H264 via WeTransfer. It’s important to note that the shooting needs to be finished in order to qualify and the film cannot be finalized by the time the coproduction forum takes place.
•CVs of the people involved creatively in the project (director & producer);
•A presentation of the production company attached (if applicable).

Selection process
The jury, consisting of ESP Alumni and the organizing team, will gather in Vilnius, Lithuania on the 16th of January where they’ll decide upon the projects selected for the Works-in-Progress section of European Short Pitch 2016.
Participants will be informed on their selection / non-selection on the 20th of January 2016, either via the NISI MASA website (www.nisimasa.com) or by email.

The invited professionals
55 film professionals will be invited for the coproduction forum, chosen for their experience in European short film coproduction and according to the profiles of the selected projects. In some specific cases, participants will be offered to propose names of professionals to invite.
They will be mostly film producers (40 of them), the remaining 15 being either distributors/sales agents, financers (representatives of film funds), or buyers (TV commissioning editors). Call for Scriptwriting Workshop at Fenno-Ugric Film Festival

The Finno-Ugric Film Festival (FUFF) announces its Scriptwriting workshop, to be held during the Festival in Tsiistre, Estonia, 10th-13th June 2015.

We invite 12 applications from filmmakers who wish to participate in this workshop. Those selected will receive assistance as follows:

For applicants from the Finno-Ugric small nations (Komi, Udmurt, Khanty, Mansy, Nenets, Enets, etc.) FUFF will reimburse travel expenses from Moscow as well as providing accommodation and food during the festival.

In addition the invitation is open to filmmakers from other countries. For these applicants FUFF will provide food and accommodation during the festival.

The workshop will be held by two well-known film professionals/scriptwriters/directors who will help to develop your synopsis into a short film script during the festival.

CALL

We would like to receive a one-page (A4) synopsis of a short fiction, experimental or documentary film and a motivation letter by 15th of February. Please send these by email to: sara.kisari[at]gmail.com.

Selection will be made by the end of March 2014 and all applicants will receive a reply by email. The language of participation is English; we accept Russian language synopses from the territory of Russia. We encourage students and non-professionals to send in their synopsis proposal on behalf of those whose English is not so good as we will provide interpreters during the workshop.

CONDITIONS
•Applicants must be over 18 to enter.
•The competition focus is on the pitch as well as the script. There is no need to send a finished script, all original ideas are welcome. The Script Pitch places particular emphasis on the combination of both a captivating script and a convincing delivery in front of the jury.
•All scripts must be for a short fiction film under 20 minutes (either live-action or animation).
•As the competition and workshops will be held entirely in English, you must be able to express yourself in English, both written and orally to take part in the programme.

EUROPEAN SHORT PITCH is an initiative aimed at promoting European coproduction of short films which combines a scriptwriting workshop in residency, an on-line session and a Coproduction Forum bringing together scriptwriters and industry professionals from all over Europe.

Film journalism workshop at Pöff

Nisi Masa, a European network of film associations, is preparing a film journalism workshop during the 15th edition of PÖFF - Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival. It is designed for young cinema enthusiasts - film journalists, photographers and videobloggers from Estonia, Finland and Lithuania.

For the last couple of years, NISI MASA has successfully organized similar projects during the festivals like Abu Dhabi, IDFA and Cannes, where the participants had a chance to develop and improve their writing skills. Their reviews, interviews, in focus articles etc. were published in the daily gazette called Nisimazine, while during the POFF they will be published on the NISI MASA's official blog - Nisimazine.eu.

The participants will be provided with guidence from a NISI MASA mentor, meetings with professional tutors (to be confirmed), as well as food, accomodation and accreditations for the festival.

The deadline for applying is this Friday - October 28th. There are still some available places.

Polyglot film contest

Do you speak video?

Submit your short film about multilingualism to the POLYGLOT contest, and win a place aboard an itinerant filmmaking event travelling across the archipelago of Turku, Finland!

Multilingualism. Even the word itself is hard to pronounce in a hurry without getting tongue-tied. In the EU alone there are 23 languages – not including the myriad of non-official languages and dialects. Let’s face it; navigating within an enormous "tower of babble" can represent a logistical nightmare. Yet linguistic diversity is also a great strength, because it reflects an infinitely rich cultural landscape.

Of course languages are living organisms, constantly evolving – sometimes even against efforts to control wordplay. The international dominance of English and the political status of minority languages are just a few of the topics currently heating up debate, just as Europeans are becoming increasingly mobile for travel, work, life and love. And the young “Euro-generation” is facing new linguistic challenges head on, finding ways to break down borders in communication whilst preserving their own identities. In other words, being a polyglot is in some way the norm.

If you're European (EU or non-EU), aged 18-35, and have something to say about multilingualism, speak-up!

How to enter the contest?

Simply go to www.polyglot-turku.eu and read carefully the guidelines and rules, before uploading your short video (max. length 5 minutes). An online application form must also be filled in with basic information about your entry.

We are seeking works in two categories:

Video Portrait - Documentary (My multilingualism)

Do you speak different languages on a regular basis? If so, what does each one represent to you? Describe the linguistic environment you live in, and how it affects you personally.

Video Poem - Fiction (The language I dream in)
Use the audiovisual medium to its full artistic potential. This is the place to share your most original and creative ideas about language…

Once uploaded, the public will be able to view, comment on and eventually, vote for your work! And for those of you seeking inspiration for your films, there will be some helpful links and articles available too during the contest submission period.

Selection and prize

In January 2011, 18 winners will be selected by online voters and a professional jury. The prize is participation in an all-expenses-paid “Cine-Boat” documentary filmmaking workshop and mini film festival, taking place from 3rd – 19th June 2011.

To prepare, the winners will first exchange short video letters on the theme My language. Then, during the 2-week Cine-Boat, they will explore the beautiful archipelago of Turku (Finland) by boat, making six group films on multilingualism, guided by professional tutors.

One of the main focuses of the workshop will be encountering the Swedish-speaking communities which inhabit the islands and have their own distinct cultural identity. June is an ideal time to explore the region and enjoy the long hours of sunlight. Not only is it high tourist season, but also the month of Midsummer festivities (bonfires, traditional meals, pole-raising). And there will of course be many different activities related to Turku’s status as 2011 European Cultural Capital!

Diffusion of the workshop results

After the workshop, the filmmakers will have several days to edit their final films before presenting them during a 2-day film festival in Turku, organised by NISI MASA. Guest experts (linguists, authors, historians) will animate debates with the public, before celebratory evening events draw the Polyglot project to a close.

The short documentaries will later be widely diffused through a DVD compilation and further screenings across the NISI MASA network, now present in 23 countries! NISI MASA will also distribute them to international film festivals, cultural institutions, the media, etc.

Nisi Masa "Instanbul Express" alustab Tallinnast 20. septembril

20.septembril alustab Tallinnast NISI MASA kõigi aegade suurejoonelisim rändav filmitöötuba „Istanbul Express“. 45 noort talendikat filmitegijat (rezissöörid, operaatorid ja helirezissöörid) valiti välja sadade soovijate seast, moodustamaks 15 filmimeeskonda, kes alustavad kolmest erinevast linnast: Tallinn (Eesti), San Sebastian (Hispaania) ja Torino (Itaalia) teekonda läbi Euroopa, ülesandeks luua lühidokumentaalfilme Euroopa mitmekeelsuse teemadel. 3 teekonda hõlmavad endas kokku 24 linna kaheksateistkümnes riigis ning kulmineeruvad Istanbulis, 2010 aasta Euroopa kultuuripealinnas 10. oktoobril. Eestist osaleb istanbul expressi workshopil Ando Naulainen.

Hetkel on avatud ka mitu uut taotlusvooru NISI MASA järgmistele workshoppidele, kuhu ka Eesti noored saavad kandideerida.

Suurim neist on POLYGLOT videovõistlus kõigile noortele Euroopa residentidele, mille võitjad teevad kaasa filmitöötoas „Cine’Boat“, mis toimub Soome saarestikus liikuval laeval ja kulmineerub Turu linnas juunis 2010. Turu on koos Tallinnaga Euroopa Kultuuripealinn 2011.

Samuti on hetkel võimalik ajakirjanikel, fotograafidel ja videobloggeritel kandideerida filmifestivali ajakirja Nisimazine töötoale Amsterdami rahvusvahelise dokumentaalfilmide festivalil, kommunikatsioonitreeningu seminaridele Ungaris ja Kosovas ning animatsiooniworkshopile Sofias. NISI MASA Filmitöötuba otsib vabatahtlikke

NISI MASA Estonia otsib vabatahtlikke filmitöötoa "Istanbul Express: Exploring Multilingualism accross Europe" ühe alguspunkti, Tallinna osa läbiviimiseks. Istanbul Express on NISI MASA võrgustiku sellesügisene kõige suurem projekt. 45 osalejat üle Euroopa alustavad kolmest punktist (Tallinn, Eesti; San Sebastian, Hispaania ja Torino, Itaalia) rongisõitu Istanbuli poole, filmides materjali, millest hiljem Istanbulis sünnib 15 lühidokumentaalfilmi teemal mitmekeelsus. Tallinnast alustab 20. Septembril 15 osalejat 11st Euroopa riigist, kes on jagatud viite gruppi, igas grupis režissöör, operaator ja helirežissöör. Siin viibivad nad kokku 3 päeva.
Eestist alustava grupi juhendajaks on Bulgaaria filmirezissöör Andrey Paounov. Rohkem infot töötoa kohta leiad kirjale lisatud pressiteatest. Töötoal on ka oma blogi, mis asub aadressil www.nisimasa.com/istanbulexpress.

Vabatahtlike ülesanneteks on olla ettevalmistusperioodil kontaktis 'rongi' koordinaatoriga ning vastata küsimustele mis osalejatel ning organisaatoritel Tallinna kohta võivad tekkida. 20. - 23. September, mil osalejad viibivad Tallinnas peaksid vabatahtlikud olema saadaval ning pakkuma igakülgset abi näiteks tõlkimisel, võttekohtade leidmisel, kohalike olude selgitamisel jne.

Vabatahtliku eelduseks on hea inglise keele oskus, eesti keele oskus ja hea arusaam Tallinna elust-olust, kasuks tuleb ka vene keele oskus.

Vabatahtlikele pakume head ja huvitavat seltskonda, võimalust tutvuda noorte filmitegijatega üle Euroopa ning päevadel kui osalejad Tallinnas on, kaks korda päevas süüa. Lisaks on kavas avapidu ning kinoseanss.

Istanbul express: Exploring Multilingualism accross Europe

The 45 participants will meet in three European Capitals: Tallinn, San Sebastián and Turin. Dividing into groups of three people (one director, one cinematographer and one sound engineer), they will make 15 short documentaries on the way to Istanbul.

Polyglot: On the Way to Turku

All young and creative-minded Europeans are eagerly welcomed to express themselves and share ideas on the topic of multilingualism through short films. Participants can now upload their works onto an interactive web platform (www.polyglot-turku.eu), where the public will be able to view, comment and vote on them. 18 winners will be
invited to participate in an itinerant documentary filmmaking workshop in the archipelago of Turku and Aland islands (Finland) to celebrate its status as European Capital of Culture in 2011!

Filmini short film festival

FILMINI International Short Film Festival is a competitive festival of short films. It aims to contribute to the promotion and production of artistic short films, and to develop a spirit of friendship and cooperation among filmmakers from all over the world.

FILMINI International Short Film Festival is organized by the non profit association "Seven".

The third edition of FILMINI will take place in Sofia, Bulgaria from October 13th till 17th, 2010.

The Festival program includes several competitions of short films as well as non-competitive film programs, retrospectives, tributes and other accompanying screenings and events.

The Festival accepts for its competition programs fiction and animated short films, as long as:

- the production has been completed after January 1st 2009;
- films are no more than 20 minutes long;

The selection of films is carried out by a commission appointed by association SEVEN. No film can be withdrawn from the festival once it has been selected.

An international Jury of five members will award the following prizes:

- The grand prix prize € 1,200
- Best animation film award € 500
- Best Balkan film award € 1,000
- Kodak Cinelabs Award for Best film from the national competition
- Audience award

Award-winners are expected to mention the award in the publicity and promotional material of the film.

To take part in the Festival applicants are required to submit the following materials.

- An entry form duly filled and signed.
- The film on DVD with English subtitles.

By e-mail or on CD:

- Synopsis.
- Director’s biography & filmography.
- A photo of the director.
- At least 3 stills from the film.
- Dialogue list in original language.
- Dialogue list in English with time code.
- Trailer of the film.
Other press and promotional materials.

All received materials will remain for the Festival archive and can be used for Festival promotion and promotional screenings of FILMINI in Bulgaria.
Deadline for submissions: 31 July 2010.
Post stamp dated no later than 31 July 2010 validates the submission.

Meie kaasabil manab Amazonase piirkonnast Ji-Paranást pärit mees, kes kümme aastat tagasi Portugali rändas, taas esile oma isiklikud ümberasumise ja uue keskkonnaga seotud kogemused, kasutades selleks kinokunsti vahendeid. Norbert on õppinud Portugali keraamiliste plaatide azulejode maalimise kunsti, millega teenib elatist veel tänapäevalgi.
